Below is the transcript of the speech given by Yeb Sano, the head of the Philippines climate delegation, at the opening of the United Nations' climate change talks in Warsaw, Poland on Monday. Sano linked the super typhoon that struck his country and killed an estimated 10,000 people to climate change, and said he would voluntarily not eat until there are signs of meaningful action in Warsaw. "What my country is going through as a result of this extreme climate event is madness. The climate crisis is madness," he said. "We can stop this madness. Right here in Warsaw."

The speech reportedly brought tears to the eyes of other negotiators and a standing ovation. The transcript, via RTCCC:
